Molde and Fredrik Aursnes respond to Leeds United transfer links

Leeds United have been linked with a £5 million move for Molde midfielder Fredrik Aursnes, something which has now led to a response from the Norwegian club.

The Sun reported over the past weekend that Leeds are 'monitoring' Aursnes, a 24-year-old playmaker who would offer up a cheap option to bolster Marcelo Bielsa's midfield.

Aursnes is said to be ready to test himself away from Norway and despite having two years left on his deal, there interest aplenty in his services.

French club Toulouse are reportedly battling Leeds for his signature but Molde have since dismissed the link with the Whites.

Ole Erik Stavrum, the Norwegian side’s director, has told VG that there has been no contact between the two clubs.

Stavrum said, per Sport Witness: "It is completely unknown to us."

Aursnes himself has also discussed the situation and added: "I’ve got it from the media, but I don’t know anything, to be honest. I haven’t heard anything about this, really, so there’s not much more to say."

Aursnes burst on the scene at just 16 and won the 2012 Norwegian Cup with Hodd - becoming the youngest player to ever do so in the process.
