Moises Caicedo agent outlines transfer stance amid Liverpool links as idol named

Moises Caicedo's agent may have dropped a hint over his next club by pinpointing the Premier League player the Brighton & Hove midfielder - and reported Liverpool target - idolises most.

Caicedo, 21, has earned rave reviews for his performances on the south coast and came close to leaving the Seagulls mid-season when Arsenal came calling for his signature. However, the Ecuador starlet stayed put at that particular juncture. But the Gunners, Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be continuing to monitor his situation.

Having put pen-to-paper on a new contract in March, whoever does win the race for Caicedo will have to pay a significant fee for him. Liverpool have been heavily linked with a swoop after shelving their plans to try and lure Jude Bellingham to Anfield this summer.

Nicolo Barella, Ryan Gravenberch, Mason Mount and Caicedo's Brighton team-mate, Alexis Mac Allister, have been mooted as possible alternatives for Bellingham. But which Premier League side may have the edge when it comes to pursuing Caicedo?

As quoted by Arsenal Informer, the player's agent, Manuel Sierra, said: "Now, he's completely focused on the last part of the season. All evaluations will be postponed until the summer."

Sierra added: "This is not a surprise because there aren't many other midfielders so young and talented around Europe. I believe he can really improve in every aspect of the game.

"He can slot into any [team] as he's ready for it all. His dream is to play in the Champions League and to reach as far as he can in football. His idol? N'Golo Kante."

When it comes to next season, Liverpool are unable to guarantee Champions League qualification, but they have given themselves hope in that respect after putting together six wins on the bounce. However, the Reds still have work to do when it comes to the top-four chase.

Caicedo, who signed for Brighton midway through the 2020/2021 season, has played 32 games in the Premier League this campaign. He has totted-up 48 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls and, according to the Transermarkt website, Caicedo is now valued at €55m.
