Moise Kean must follow in Richarlison's footsteps at Everton to silence the critics

Graeme Souness is someone who I have long admired, and someone I had the fortune of meeting during my time with Rangers.

But he it got it wrong with his comments about Moise Kean over the weekend.

I've long felt that there was a lot of negativity regarding the Blues when it came to the media.

It always seems as though they choose to highlight the negatives and go in on them.

Look, I'm not saying that I'm Mr Positive when it comes to Everton, in fact I often think I'm quite negative myself.

But here I struggle to see what the negatives are in this situation.

In fact, Everton, Kean and Marcel Brands should all be praised.

How and why a youngster who has made a bold move to another country, where he doesn't know the language but is willing to learn it, and is keen to play first-team football on a regular basis instead of sitting on the bench at Juventus can be criticised.

Also Everton as a club deserve credit for getting the move over the line in the summer.

He's one of the hottest prospects in European football and the Blues did brilliant to convince the 19-year-old to join them.

And finally Marcel Brands deserves a lot of praise too.

The personal touch from him to Kean's mum was fantastic and shows what a special club we are - and I have no doubt we are doing all we can to help him settle in.

But for Souness to say what he did was very disappointing.

However, Kean simply has to take a leaf out of Richarlison's book and produce on the pitch to shut the likes of Souness and co up.

A lot was made about the Brazilian's move to the club last summer, but he quickly shut the critics up by scoring goals.

And now Kean now needs to follow in his teammate's footsteps.

Kenny will learn a lot from year in Germany

I was delighted to see Jonjoe Kenny get his name on the scoresheet for FC Schalke 04 this weekend.

As someone who has played abroad myself, one thing I can guarantee is that he will learn about a variety of different things both on and off the pitch.

So far he will have only been taught the England and Everton way, but by heading abroad he will learn the game in a different way.

He will also see and feel what it is like when players from abroad come over to England, the settling in and getting over the language barrier, as at the minute no one can probably understand his Scouse accent.

He's gone to a massive a club in Schalke, too.

A former Rangers teammate of mine, Peter Lovenkrands, spent three years there and had nothing but good things to say about the club, it's supporters, and the city itself.

It's a fantastic move for the kid. He'll get to experience a different way of life, and I believe he will come back a more complete player, which will help him in his bid to dislodge Seamus Coleman.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how he gets on throughout the season.
