Moi Elyounoussi rubbishes Celtic criticism as Hoops loanee provides Southampton update

Celtic star Moi Elyounoussi insists he has ignored the criticism being aimed at the club following their recent run of form.

But he reckons any criticism is over the top and can't understand why the team have been under fire, and believes that the majority of the supporters are backing them.

Neil Lennon was raging with the comments being made about his side last week but they looked to be back to good form in the first half of their Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen.

It was Celtic's first win in four games and Elyounoussi is confident they will be back to top form soon.

He said: "A club this size, of course there will be disappointment and criticism if you lose a game or draw, whatever. The thing is that we are disappointed as well that we didn’t win.

"We try to win every game that we go into. And sometimes you can lose, you know. Any team can lose, any team can draw, that happens.

"Now we are just looking forward, those games are gone. Yes, I was surprised. Yes, the criticism I don’t understand it. To be honest I haven’t read anything, just what I’ve heard from you guys.

"So I don’t understand it, no, but in the end I know that we have our supporters behind us and supporting us going forward. That is the most important thing for us."

Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl has praised Elyounoussi recently and reports in England suggested he would play a part in the Saints squad next season.

But Elyounoussi insists his whole focus is on the Hoops.

He added: "I haven’t had much contact. I’m just focusing on myself and what I can do here and what I can do for the club. That’s the main thing.

"Whatever happens next season is in the future, but of course I’m watching what they are doing and they’re doing well at the moment. I’m pleased for them.

"My main focus is to play as well for the club here where I am. I’m enjoying my time here, that’s my main focus. Whatever happens in the future, we’ll come to that. As long as I keep playing well that’s the main thing. We can talk about that later on."
