Moi Elyounoussi 'demand' from Celtic that pushed through loan spell as Hoops hit with transfer blow

Celtic have been dealt a blow in their hopes of keeping Moi Elyounoussi beyond his second loan spell with Southampton prepared to give him another chance in England.

The Norway international returned to Celtic earlier this summer after an injury-hit but relatively successful first spell in Glasgow.

But while Celtic might not be getting them back for another campaign next year, they forced Southampton into a quick decision that meant he was back at Celtic Park for this season.

Neil Lennon is a big fan of him and was desperate to get him back to add more firepower to the Celtic attack ahead of a huge season for the club.

And while they couldn't persuade Southampton to part ways with Fraser Forster again, they did manage to get Elyounoussi.

A report in the Athletic states that Celtic demanded an answer on a new loan spell in June.

Southampton were preoccupied with Project Restart and didn’t have the time to think through the move.

And that allowed Celtic to get Elyounoussi back in a major boost to their 10 In A Row hopes.

But the report also states that Southampton are expecting Elyounoussi to eventually prove they were right to spend £16million on him two years ago.

They believe that he will be an English Premier League player and Ralph Hassenhuttl will give him a chance to prove it next summer.
