LUCKNOW: Former state minister for minority welfare, Mohsin Raza was elected as the chairperson of the UP State Haj Committee.
Raza took charge for the post, which is a deputy minister level position, on Thursday. He is also a member of the legislative council.
Upon taking the charge, the BJP leader assured that pilgrims embarking on the spiritual journey to Mecca, Saudi Arabia during Haj 2022 will be provided with better facilities.
"The state government gave best facilities to pilgrims during Haj 2017-18 and Haj 2018-19, but the Covid pandemic did not allow for Haj activity to be taken up in the last two years. This year when pilgrims make the journey through the Haj committee, they will be given better amenities. The Haj House will also be better equipped for the purpose," he said.
The chairperson also assured better use and upkeep of the Haj houses in Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Varanasi.
