Mohamed Salah hasn't looked back since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2017.
Boasting 118 goals from 186 games, he's picked up Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and European Super Cup winner's medals and is on course for a third Premier League Golden Boot.
But the Egyptian's success at Anfield is a stark cry from his first attempt at the English top-flight with Chelsea after Jose Mourinho managed to see off a first effort from the Reds to sign hiim.
Joining the Blues in January 2014 from Basel, he made only 19 appearances for the club, scoring two goals, before leaving for Fiorentina 12 months later and later making a permanent exit to Roma after another temporary move away.
Despite prolific stints in Serie A with La Viola and I Giallorossi, there were doubts about his suitability to English football prior to Salah 's move to Liverpool.
Yet one of his former Chelsea team-mates has pointed the finger at then-boss Mourinho when explaining why the forward didn't demonstrate such form at Stamford Bridge.
Like Salah, Filipe Luis spent a year at Chelsea as he signed from Atletico Madrid in July 2014 before returning to the La Liga side the following summer.
Comparing the Liverpool forward to Lionel Messi, the Brazilian insists you could see his quality in training back then despite Mourinho failing to hand him first team opportunities.
"It might look like we fell out but I admire him (Jose Mourinho)," Luis told the Guardian. "I won the league with him. But he didn’t get the best out of me, just as he didn’t with (Mohamed) Salah.
"I suffered Salah in training. When he went to Fiorentina, I said: ‘Why are you going, Momo? This is Chelsea.’ And he said: ‘I need to play.’
"I thought: ‘This kid’s good.’ He never went for money or to win more; he went to show he could play.
"In training he was like Messi. Really, like Messi. Ask anyone."
Now on the books of Flamengo, Luis was reunited with Salah in December 2019 as the Egyptian helped Liverpool to a 1-0 victory over his former team-mate's new side in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
