Mohamed Salah 'snubbed', Fabinho puts boot in and other Liverpool moments missed

Liverpool maintained their position at the top of the Premier League table on a dramatic afternoon at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

After Wilfried Zaha had equalised Sadio Mane's opener late on, Roberto Firmino scored five minutes from time to earn the Reds a 2-1 win over the Eagles.

The result meant Jurgen Klopp's side still haven't lost a top-flight game since January and have now moved eight points clear at the top.

But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 90 minutes at Selhurst Park.

Fabinho launches it

Sometimes, there's nothing wrong with a good old fashioned hoof. Especially when it's into the stands and primarily aimed at wasting time.

Sadio Mane did it against Manchester City a fortnight ago when, having been flagged offside, he launched the ball into the Anfield Road End.

And on Saturday it was the turn of Fabinho who, with Divock Origi down hurt, put possession out by belting it into row Z.

Every wasted second counts. Especially when you're winning.

Henderson takes his time

Speaking of timewasting, Jordan Henderson produced a fine effort of the dark arts on his substitution.

With his number up, the midfielder took an eternity taking his captain's armband, which would then be passed to the incoming James Milner.

And he then seemed a little confused as to where he should exit, further angering the already irate Selhurst Park faithful.

As a reward, he exchanged warm applause with the away end as he walked along the touchline and traipsed back to the dugout.

Salah's substitute 'snub'

Mind you, none of this made much of a difference when Mane's opener was wiped out by Zaha.

The clock ticking down, Liverpool needed a hero quickly. So Jurgen Klopp turned to Mohamed Salah, benched given ongoing concerns about his left ankle.

And Salah was stood on the touchline ready to come on when he was spotted punching the air while celebrating Firmino's winner, before putting his top back on and returning to his seat.

If only there was a song Liverpool fans could sing that somehow linked the Egyptian and sitting down...

The man in black

Not so much a moment missed as a person missed. In the dark, anyway. Probably.

Anyway, not for the first time, Alisson Becker was resplendent in his all black kit, including black gloves and, with it being a little chilly, black tights too.

Even his beard, hair and boots are black.

Ideal for a bit of post-match espionage around the capital later on Saturday evening. Hey, at £65million, a little extra-curricular activity is the least the Brazilian can do.
