Mohamed Salah seeking award treble as Liverpool stars nominated for Fans' Footballer of the Year

With 2022 coming to a close, it’s time for you to vote for who you think has been Liverpool’s footballer of the year.

It’s been an up and down 12 months for the Reds, following last season’s title heartbreak and this season’s poor start, with the club sitting just below the Champions League places going into the World Cup break.

However, ECHO writers have picked out four players who have managed to put in particularly positive showings over the past year - with one needing your vote to become Liverpool Fans' Footballer of the Year for 2022.

Mohamed Salah

Winner of both the 2020 and 2021 awards, it was inevitable that Liverpool’s Egyptian winger would be nominated again this year.

With 23 goals this calendar year, Salah has again been the Reds’ main man. He may have endured a slight dip in form following the Africa Cup of Nations last season but still provided some important contributions.

This season might not have been the best so far for the team overall, but he’s still managed double figures and will obviously be key when play resumes.

Luis Diaz

It was an instant impact from the Colombian following his move from Porto in January, giving Jurgen Klopp’s men an extra attacking threat going into the final stages of last season.

He managed six goals in all competitions in his first half campaign on Merseyside, helping the Reds to the Champions League final with an important contribution against Villarreal in the semi-final.

He then started this season brightly, scoring four goals in 12 games before his unfortunate injury in October.

Alisson Becker

Arguably the most consistent element of this current Liverpool side alongside Salah, Alisson continues to put in vital performances for the Reds.

The Brazilian was instrumental in last season’s cup double success, as well as in both the Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

Now with over 200 Liverpool appearances to his name, could he someday be regarded as the best goalkeeper in the club’s history?

Thiago Alcantara

Few players make the game seem so effortless in the current Liverpool side than Thiago, whose graceful performances have entertained Anfield in 2022.

Standout games against Manchester United in April and the FA Cup semi final against Manchester City had fans and pundits running out of superlatives for the Spaniard, with games against City and Tottenham this term equally as impressive.

If the Reds can keep him fit, he’s a key component to any chance of success.
