Mohamed Salah says 'it's Liverpool's time' to win Premier League title after long drought

Mohamed Salah insists it's Liverpool's time to win the Premier League after a 4-0 demolition of Crystal Palace moved the Reds to within touching distance of a historic feat.

Jurgen Klopp's men entered the game needing just five points from their remaining eight fixtures to capture a first league title in 30 years.

And if there were any nerves, Liverpool certainly didn't show it. Trent Alexander-Arnold set them on their way with a sublime first-half free-kick, with goals from Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane - each as magnificent as the last - sealing a routine victory.

While Liverpool secured a historic sixth Champions League title last season, they fell short in the Premier League, with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City beating Liverpool's tally of 97 by a solitary point.

However, Liverpool have turned the table this season, now 23 points ahead of their rivals, who must now defeat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to momentarily prologue the inevitable.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Salah admitted it was City who deserved the title last year but feels it is now Liverpool's turn.

On potentially winning the title on Thursday, Salah said: "I feel great! When I came here I said I wanted to win the Premier League with the team. They hadn't won it for a long time.

"Maybe last year we had a chance, but Man City performed really well - they deserved to win it.

"But it's our time to win it."

Salah also admitted the win would have felt nicer with the fans present, but insisted the league title was motivation enough.

"It would have been great to win like that with the fans, two points to go to win the league and we had a good performance today, all the players were unbelievable," he said.

"[I'm] happy about the result and looking forward to the next two games. I think we are motivated to win the league now even behind closed doors and I think we are doing good."
