Mohamed Salah's mixed messages ahead of Liverpool star's reunion with Sergio Ramos

Mohamed Salah says he has a “special motivation” ahead of Liverpool ’s meeting with Real Madrid.

But the Egyptian star insists he has not thinking about revenge when it comes to Sergio Ramos.

The Reds face off against the Spanish giants for the first time since the 2018 Champions League final in their quarter-final showdown next week.

Then Los Blancos were laying claim to a fourth European crown in five years, as Gareth Bale scored twice, Loris Karius blundered (twice) and Salah was forced off with a shoulder injury following an incident involving the Madrid captain.

Now, Jurgen Klopp’s 2019 winners know that a seventh European Cup is their only chance of ending this season with silverware against a Madrid side that lacks the same cutting edge as three years ago.

Speaking to Marca, Liverpool’s leading goalscorer said that the events of that night in Kiev have been forgotten.

However, he insisted: “Let’s just say that I have special motivation to win the tie and go through to the semi-finals.

“What’s going to happen now isn’t going to change the result of the final in Kiev. That’s in the past.”

On facing Ramos, vilified on Merseyside for his challenge which saw Salah injured in that encounter, the Egyptian added: “I don’t think about it. I’m thinking about the team.

“Everyone is focused on their team and everyone wants to win. That’s it.”

Salah, 28, was again asked about his own future, having previously spoken to Spanish media about the possibility of leaving Liverpool for La Liga.

Again, he didn’t close any doors on the possibility of a switch: “I hope to be able to play for many more years. Why not?

“No one knows what’s going to happen in the future, so maybe one day, yes.”
