Mohamed Salah's Liverpool return date set as Jurgen Klopp confirms Covid test result

Mohamed Salah has tested negative for coronavirus and will return to Liverpool training Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The Egyptian was absent for the Reds in their win over Leicester after contracting Covid-19.

The forward returned to the UK having been in his native Egypt where he was attending his brother's wedding.

His decision to do so copped criticism as he continued to test positive for coronavirus.

Salah and compatriot Mohamed Elneny both returned to British soil on Friday and Klopp has now shared a positive update.

"He tested negative today," said the German.

"Tomorrow we have UEFA testing for the Champions League, he can now train with us tomorrow. That's it."

Liverpool face Atalanta at Anfield on Wednesday night looking to keep up their 100 per cent record in Europe.

In Salah's absence the Reds managed to ease past Leicester 3-0 on Merseyside with two of their three forwards getting on the scoresheet.

Diogo Jota netted their second while Roberto Firmino scored from a corner late on.

And Klopp spoke highly of his makeshift team who know what is expected of them.

He said: "We scored three goals and didn't concede one; we defended exceptionally well, controlled the game.

"There were a lot of good things. I can't pick one that pleased me most - maybe the performance of James Milner at right-back. He played an exceptional game, first there and then in midfield.

"That is what we expect from ourselves. The injuries were a massive shock in that moment but the boys have to offer solutions.

"We have centre-halves, they are really young. They are not experienced, you saw the bench tonight."
