Mohamed Salah's post leaves Liverpool fans questioning where he's gone

Mohamed Salah is a global superstar.

That therefore means whenever he does just about anything there is a story to be told.

And this time it is one of Liverpool fans questioning why the Egypt international appears to be in New York City when the Reds have a Premier League match against Huddersfield on Friday.

The attacker posted a picture on both his Instagram and Twitter page of himself in front of two pizzas on Tuesday evening with the caption 'When in NYC... eat like you’re in Rome'.

Salah's latest post left Reds supporters bewildered over why he had possibly gone to a time zone five hours behind the one he is likely due to play football in, in three days time.

Gini Wijnaldum meets Memphis Depay - and Liverpool supporters request the exact same thing

However, the mystery has been solved - he is over in New York for the Time Magazine Top 100 Most Influential People gala.

Jurgen Klopp hailed Salah as the perfect role model last week after the Liverpool attacker was named as one of the world's most influential people.

The Egypt international features on the cover of the current issue of TIME magazine – a mark of the huge impact he's had both on and off the field.

"He’s in the middle of the dressing room, he’s sensationally good with all the boys and he is very influential for us," Klopp said.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp lifts the lid on what 'role model' Mohamed Salah is really like

"And if somebody thinks he is influential for the rest of the world as well then good, show it.

"I don’t know exactly when the meeting will be (with TIME magazine) but he will go there because it’s an important statement for the world.”

Liverpool face Huddersfield at Anfield on Friday at 8pm.
