Mohamed Salah's agent clarifies "really good" Real Madrid transfer claim

Mohamed Salah didn't turn down an offer from Real Madrid back in March 2018, according to the Liverpool star's agent.

Former Egypt assistant manager Hany Ramzy claimed over the weekend that Salah had discussed an offer from the Spanish giants with him and Pharaohs boss Hector Cuper at a national team training camp shortly before the World Cup in Russia.

“When I was working with Hector Cuper, we had a training camp in Switzerland,” said Ramzy.

“I was talking to Salah and he told me that Real Madrid had sent him an offer.

“The offer was really good, but Salah discussed it with me and Mr Cuper, and he decided to stay with Liverpool because he was comfortable there.”

At that time Salah was coming towards the end of his remarkable first season at Liverpool which he ended with 44 goals in 52 appearances.

The campaign did end in heartbreak for him though at the hands of Real Madrid, with a challenge by Real captain Sergio Ramos forcing him out of the Champions League final in Kiev.

The Egyptian signed a new contract with Liverpool shortly after that, and two years on he has now won the Champions League with the Reds and also stands on the verge of becoming a Premier League winner when football can resume.

Responding to the reports of Real's offer, Salah's agent Ramy Abbas Issa sent out a short tweet, which simply read: "Mohamed never discussed any career plans with any ex coach."

Salah - who has now scored 91 goals in 144 games for the Reds - had his own response to some transfer speculation earlier this month when he laughed off a claim that Liverpool should look to sell him in order to make room for a new forward.
