Mohamed Salah responds to "greedy" claim after infamous spat with Sadio Mane

Mohamed Salah proved yet again just how much of a team player he is for Liverpool during their 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

The Egyptian forward is renowned for taking a large number of shots and this has led to accusations he is "greedy" in recent seasons.

There have also been claims of a rift between Salah and Sadio Mane, with the latter visibly furious with his teammate after not receiving a pass during a Premier League clash with Burnley in September 2019.

Despite his unwanted reputation for selfishness, Salah is one of the most-creative players players in the Liverpool squad and he picked up another assist against City.

Not only that, the teammate he set up was Mane after winding infield and sliding the Senegalese winger through on goal to put the Reds 1-0 up.

The pair embraced as they celebrated the opening goal and speculation their rivalry is anything other than friendly appears to have been put to bed.

Salah's assist was his third of the season, with no Liverpool player setting up their teammates on more occasions this campaign.

Liverpool's lead lasted just 10 minutes before Phil Foden equalised for City, but Salah then produced one of the goals of the season to put the Reds back in front.

The 29-year-old collected the ball from Curtis Jones on the edge of the area and weaved through four Sky Blues shirts with immaculate footwork before rifling past Ederson on his weaker right foot.

It was a goal which showed the other side to Salah's game, as he is not afraid to hold onto possession and summon a moment of magic when he feels there are no better options available.

Is Mohamed Salah a selfish player? Have your say in the comments.

When this fails to produce the goods, Salah has found himself in the spotlight and there is no shortage of pundits who have alleged he is selfish in the past.

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness branded Salah "super selfish" last year, while Arsene Wenger claimed he is "a bit obsessed with finishing himself".

When criticism of the former Chelsea and Roma star was at its height, Gary Neville declared Salah's greed is what sets him apart from Mane.

Neville told Sky Sports : "Mane is likeable, I think the players probably love him, he gives his all every single day, he'll do the selfless thing for the team.

"Then you look at Salah over on the other side. He doesn't pass sometimes to his teammate, he'll be a little bit more selfish, a little bit less likeable because of that, probably by the fans, probably by some of his teammates."

Salah appears to be gradually shaking off his selfish reputation, with his latest assist for Mane aiding him in that cause.
