Mohamed Salah rallies Liverpool fans over 'bittersweet' season finale after missing out to Man City in Premier League title race

Mohamed Salah has urged Liverpool fans to replicate Anfield in Madrid when they take on Tottenham in the Champions League final.

The Egyptian wants to make up for the ‘bittersweet’ end to the Premier League campaign.

A 2-0 win over Wolves on the final day took them to 97 points, but it was not enough as Manchester City coasted past Brighton to defend their title and finish a point ahead of the Reds.

Salah now wants to wipe the disappointment though when they take on Spurs at the Wanda Metropolitano on June.

“It feels bittersweet now but the season isn’t over,” Salah said on social media.

“I want to say thank you to my teammates, coaches, and to the fans. And fans, please bring Anfield to Madrid.”

While Jurgen Klopp insists the Reds must be almost perfect next season to topple City.

“We will go again, 100 per cent,” Klopp proclaimed.

“As long as City are around, with the quality and financial power they have, no other team will pass them easily.

"That’s clear. So we need to be very, very close to perfection to win the Premier League.

“We have made unbelievably big steps, and I expect more to come. This team is not the finished article. We have to build again.”
