Mohamed Salah puts pressure on Liverpool chiefs with new update on contract situation

Mo Salah has again addressed his contract situation insisting his decision to stay at Liverpool is "not all about the money".

The Egyptian star's deal will enter its final 12 months this summer and talks about an extension have been drawn out, with speculation continuing throughout the season. Salah has become Liverpool's talisman and he would leave a huge hole were he to seek pastures new.

Salah has previously discussed a move elsewhere with Spain touted as a possible destination but he has repeatedly underlined his affection for the Reds as he seeks to negotiate improved terms. His goalscoring exploits have strengthened his hand in discussions, but the player insists he is not seeking a bumper pay day to stay.

He told FourFourTwo: "I don't know, I have one year left. I think the fans know what I want, but in the contract, it's not everything about the money at all. So I don’t know, I can't tell you exactly. I have one year left and the fans know what I want."

Salah continued: "This club means a lot to me – I've enjoyed my football here more than anywhere, I gave the club everything and everybody saw that. I've had a lot of unbelievable moments here, winning trophies, individual goals, individual trophies. It's like a family here."

The 29-year-old is enjoying his best season to date, netting 30 times already, which is helping power the Merseyside outfit to a possible quadruple. Already they have claimed the Carabao Cup and still have their eyes on a further three pieces of silverware. Salah has remained focused on matters on the pitch throughout the season however, choosing to put his next move to the back of his mind.

Will Mo Salah stay at Liverpool? Let us know in the comments

"I'm not worried, I don't let myself worry about something," he claimed. "The season didn’t finish yet, so let's finish it in the best possible way – that's the most important thing. Then in the last year, we’re going to see what's going to happen." The forward expects to remain at Liverpool beyond the current season, but did add: "If they want me to go, that's something different!"

Jurgen Klopp has continued to remain relaxed about the state of the forward's contract negotiations. The success experienced by Liverpool this term and their continued work in the transfer market makes them an attractive proposition and the German insists they have done all they can.

He said last moth: "Mo expects this club to be ambitious. We cannot do much more. It is Mo's decision. It is all fine from my point of view. Nothing happened further, no signing or rejection. We just have to wait, there's no rush."
