Mohamed Salah makes heartfelt call to Liverpool fans ahead of Champions League final

Mohamed Salah has urged Liverpool supporters to "bring Anfield to Madrid" as he expressed mixed emotions over the Premier League season.

The Reds were beaten into second place by Manchester City despite claiming a club record 97 points over the 38 games.

No Liverpool team has won more top-flight matches during a single campaign than the 30 Jurgen Klopp's side accrued, while they remained unbeaten at Anfield for a second successive league season and boasted the meanest defence.

Salah, last season's Premier League top scorer, this time shared the Golden Boot with team-mate Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after finishing on 22 goals.

The season, though, is not over for Liverpool as they prepare for the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid on June 1.

And having felt the power of Anfield when sat in the stands during the remarkable semi-final comeback against Barcelona last week, Salah wants Reds supporters to raise the roof at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Salah tweeted: "It feels bittersweet now but the season isn’t over. I want to say thank you to my teammates, coaches, and to the fans.

"And fans, please bring Anfield to Madrid."

Salah will be hoping to erase the memory of his Champions League final experience last season, when he left the field in tears during the first half after a tangle with Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos with the scoreline goalless. With Salah absent, Liverpool went on to lose 3-1.
