Mohamed Salah makes Golden Boot admission as he highlights "nightmare" Liverpool scenario

Mohamed Salah insists Liverpool winning comes before his Golden Boot aspirations.

The Reds forward won the individual gong in his first two years at Anfield, but was beaten to it by Jamie Vardy last term.

Salah has bagged 111 goals since signing from Roma in the summer of 2017.

But he has had to deal with accusations of greed from some quarters who feel he prioritises his own goalscoring exploits.

Sadio Mane took issue with Salah last season during a game at Burnley and made his feelings known by the dugout.

The Egyptian though only wants his goals to further the team and maintains the only difficult scenario is when he fails to fire and his side lose.

He told  TV2 : “I’m happy when the team wins, that’s the most important thing.

“When I’m scoring goals and can help the team, that makes me more happy. When I don’t score and the team doesn’t win, that’s a nightmare!

“But I’m happy when we are first, I’m happy when I score goals to help the team because the team comes first before anything and before anyone.”

Salah and Liverpool's attack has failed to fire in recent weeks.

Since hitting seven past Crystal Palace they have scored just once in three games and were nullified by both Newcastle and Southampton.

The Reds host Manchester United next and Salah has revealed that they are fully motivated to make up for their patchy form.

He added: “Around the training ground you feel how the players are focused on the game, how the players are pushing each other to win games.

“We also lost a couple of points in the last couple of games, so we need to come back to our way and we need to stay on track to win games so we can keep fighting for the Premier League.”
