Mohamed Salah lifts lid on remarkable career journey from Egypt to Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has been named as one of TIME magazine's 100 most influential people.

In an touching interview with the magazine, the Egyptian winger described his journey from playing football in his small village to being one of the world's best footballers.

The Reds' star told: "People always have big, big expectations for you.

"You see the kids they're wearing your shirt. They say they wish they could be like you one day.

"So they put you under pressure a little bit, but in the meantime that is something that makes you proud, about what you reached until now."

The 26-year-old has scored an astonishing 66 goals for Liverpool so far after arriving from Roma in 2017.

But his journey hasn't been straight-forward, Salah continued: "I'm from Nagrig, a small village five hours from Cairo.

"I've played football since I was seven years old or maybe even before.

"When I came from Egypt to Switzerland in the beginning I was suffering a lot because of the language, because of the culture, because of the hard work.

"But you know I'm happy that I'm here now after a long way."

The Egypt international has been a key signing for Jurgen Klopp and has helped Liverpool mount a serious Premier League title challenge.

Salah also described how he immediately felt the passion and love from the Reds supporters.

The winger said: "From my first day here at the club I had a warm welcome from the fans. I feel the love.

"They give me motivation in the game. I feel like supported from them you feel the love when they sing your song that must mean that you are special."
