Mohamed Salah inspired to Liverpool success by Lionel Messi advice

Mohamed Salah was set on the path to glory at Liverpool after being told to become more like Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

Salah has emerged as one of the most devastating players in the world since moving to Anfield in 2017.

The 27-year-old has scored 91 goals in 144 appearances for the Reds, and has helped them win the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and move 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Salah has also twice claimed the Premier League Golden Boot and is in the running to clinch a third when the top flight resumes later this month.

And former Egypt national team coach Bob Bradley, who was in the position between 2011 and 2013, believes he helped the forward on his way with a piece of advice when Salah was still at domestic club Al Mokawloon.

“Salah improved a lot since I left the Egyptian NT, he is a great player,” Bradley said to Egyptian TV channel Sada El Balad.

“I told him to watch Messi closely, so he can improve his performance and he took my advice.

“Back then I tried to change his position to play deep as a striker, because he has the speed. He Is now one of the best players in the world.”
