Mohamed Salah has moved to clear up some of his comments after Liverpool thrashed Manchester United at Anfield on Tuesday evening.
Salah scored twice in a 4-0 win over Ralf Rangnick’s disjointed side, a victory that took Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League.
It was the second time this season Jurgen Klopp’s team have thrashed their bitter rivals, with Salah also scoring a hat-trick in a 5-0 win at Old Trafford back in October.
United have been widely criticised for their performance at Anfield as yet another season looks like petering out and the contrast between them and Liverpool could not be starker.
Salah was joined on the scoresheet by Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz, while Thiago Alcantara also impressed, underlining the difference between the two clubs in terms of coherent squad planning.
After the game, Salah said “they make our life easier in the midfield and the back” when discussing Liverpool’s dominance over a United side Gary Neville described as “broken”.
On Wednesday, however, the 29-year-old moved to clear up his comments, insisting he was talking about his teammates and not United’s players.
Taking to Twitter, Salah wrote: “I meant our midfield, and our defence, make it easy for us. I was not talking about the Manchester United players whom I respect.”
