Mohamed Salah injury latest as Liverpool prepare to assess forward ahead of Barcelona clash

Mohamed Salah will undergo further assessment by Liverpool's medical staff on Monday to determine whether he's able to feature in Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final second leg with Barcelona at Anfield.

The Reds' 26-goal top scorer has been recovering after suffering a heavy blow to the head in a collision with keeper Martin Dubravka during Saturday's dramatic Premier League victory at Newcastle United.

Salah, who was stretchered off after being treated by club doctor Andy Massey, has had tests to determine whether he is suffering from concussion.

Salah, who was able to watch the rest of Saturday's game in the dressing room and chatted with concerned team-mates post-match, will be assessed again on Monday ahead of Liverpool 's afternoon training session at Melwood.

Dubravka claimed that Salah didn't initially respond as he lay motionless on the turf after the accidental collision at St James' Park.

“I don’t know if he was out for five or six seconds because Fabian (Schar) asked him if he was all right and he didn’t answer him,” Dubravka said. “So in that moment we were a little bit scared if he was okay.

“I felt sorry for him but I was just focused on the ball. Sometimes you can’t watch everything.

"I didn’t hit him with my hand, I didn’t punch him. It might have been my hip. I wasn’t sure if it was me or someone else.

“But I went to him to say sorry. I wasn’t trying to injure him. I’m not that kind of guy.”
