Mohamed Salah injury a 'big worry' Liverpool told after FA Cup final substitution

Jermaine Jenas believes it is a 'big worry' for Liverpool that Mohamed Salah was forced off through injury in the opening half of the FA Cup final against Chelsea after taking a seat on the Wembley turf with no one around him.

Salah was forced off in the 33rd minute of Liverpool's FA Cup final against Chelsea with what looked to be a muscular injury to his upper leg. The Egyptian was replaced by Diogo Jota in the first half at Wembley.

The Liverpool number 11 sat in the middle of the pitch as it became clear he would need medical attention from the Reds physio and was soon walking off the pitch and down the Wembley tunnel.

Jenas, who is commentating on the FA Cup final for BBC, said: "This is a big worry, Salah is not the type of player who just takes a seat. He plays a lot of games, a lot of minutes, he’s had a long season – I know most Liverpool players have but chuck the African Cup of Nations into that as well."

With the Champions League final against Real Madrid in two weeks in Paris, it is now unclear as to whether Salah will be able to feature in the showpiece final - one he is desperate to perform in after seeing his 2018 final cut short with a shoulder injury.

Salah is a player who rarely misses a game of football for club or country and has played 5523 minutes this season - the most of any player for this campaign and he will be hoping to add more as the Champions League final is on Saturday, May 28.

The Egyptian has played 58 full matches of football this season and this may be the impact of that amount of football.
