Mohamed Salah in Liverpool training after injury fears but will not face Arsenal

Mohamed Salah has provided a fitness boost for Liverpool after taking part in Monday's training session at Melwood.

The Egyptian limped off in the latter stages of Sunday's 2-1 win over Tottenham after feeling pain in the ankle he injured against Leicester City earlier in October.

Jurgen Klopp later confirmed the striker was still struggling with the after-effects of a late challenge from Foxes midfielder Hamza Choudhury.

He told Sky Sports: “Mo is the same ankle, it just gets sore the longer the game goes on.

“It’s not a massive issue, that will disappear one day, but it’s still a bit there at the moment.”

Salah's withdrawal against Spurs prompted fears he could be set for a further spell on the sidelines, casting doubt on his involvement in upcoming fixtures against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

However, the forward was pictured as part of the group being put through their paces in preparation for the midweek meeting with Arsenal.

Regardless of his fitness, Salah is not expected to feature when the Gunners visit Merseyside with Klopp likely to name a much-changed side in the League Cup again.

But he will be available for Saturday's visit to Aston Villa, where Liverpool will hope to maintain a six-point Premier League lead ahead of a huge showdown with title rivals City.
