Mohamed Salah frustration, James Milner delight and other moments missed as Diogo Jota netted first Liverpool goal

Liverpool new-boy Diogo Jota netted his first Reds goal on Monday night as Jurgen Klopp's side maintained their 100 per cent record in the Premier League so far this season.

Having arrived from Wolves for a fee of around £41 million, potentially rising to £45 million, many thought that Jota might need a little bit of time to settle into his new surroundings, but when he came on for the impressive Sadio Mane, he seemed right at home.

Playing out on the left side, a familiar role from his time at Molineux under Nuno Espirito Santo, Jota linked well with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah as he made a lively 10-minute cameo.

And there were three moments in that short period of time that stood out, with the forward on another day potentially being able to score a debut hat-trick.

New footage released by Liverpool from inside Anfield on Monday night shows how Jota's teammates reacted to each of those incidents.

Firstly, Jota had a chance when played in by a brilliant Salah pass, but could only hit the side-netting.

Firmino was the closest Reds man to the goal and appeared to begin to shout 'yes!', assuming the shot had flown into the top corner, only to realise it has gone narrowly wide for a goal kick.

The behind-the-scenes footage also shows the reaction from Liverpool's players and coaching staff on the bench as Salah then took Jota's next chance to score off his toe just as he looked primed to shoot.

Teed up by a delicate chipped pass from Gini Wijnaldum, Jota looked set to shoot on goal from inside the area, before Salah swooped in to try to score himself.

As the Egyptian's touch took the ball into the hands of Bernd Leno, the Arsenal goalkeeper, teammates can be heard shouting 'Mo! Mo! Mooo!' while there is a collective groan from the Reds' bench.

Jota did score at the third time of asking, though, finishing well into the bottom corner after David Luiz's poor header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross.

James Milner was one of the first players to celebrate with Jota, with the look on his delighted face as cheers from several players erupted showing exactly what the strike meant to Jota's teammates.

Liverpool face Arsenal again on Thursday night in the Carabao Cup before they then travel to Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League.
