Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah can prevent Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes from making Premier League history this season.
Salah currently leads the top-flight golden boot race having scored 17 goals so far this campaign, with Fernandes just one goal behind him.
Remarkably, if the Portuguese is able to overtake Salah in the scoring charts, he will become the first-ever midfielder to win the golden boot in the Premier League era.
Fernandes would also be the first United player since Robin van Persie took home the award in 2013 to finish as the top-flight's leading scorer.
If he continues scoring at his current pace, Fernandes will finish on 20 goals when the campaign comes to a close at the end of May.

In a blow to the United star’s hopes of making history though, Salah’s current rate of scoring will see him finish on 23 goals.
That would hand Salah his third golden boot award, having won it outright in 2017/2018, before sharing it with Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2018/2019.
But the two rivals appear to be on a contrasting run of form, with Fernandes scoring five goals in his last seven games, while Salah has found the back of the net just twice in the same time period.

The other main candidate is Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who like Fernandes has scored 16 goals this season.
And the prospect of Fernandes making history and becoming the first midfielder to win the golden boot is exciting United fans on Reddit.
“If Bruno does win it, it would be a fantastic achievement for a midfielder,” one said.
Fernandes’ penchant for scoring penalties, eight of his 16 goals have been spot-kicks, has drawn the ire of rival fans, but United supporters believe it could provide the perfect way for Fernandes to win.
“A penalty in stoppage time of the last game for him to overtake Salah and win the Golden Boot would be ultimate. The meltdown will be beautiful,” one Red Devils fan wrote on Reddit.
