Mohamed Salah: Andrew Robertson claims Liverpool star 'shut up' racist fans with goal against Chelsea

Mohamed Salah’s goal against Chelsea “shut up” racist supporters, claims Andrew Robertson

The Egyptian was the subject of Islamophobic chants from Blues fans during their recent Europa League away trip to Prague, with the lyrics, “Salah is a bomber” heard as a video went viral on social media.

But the former Chelsea winger settled the Premier League contest by scoring a sensational second in the 2-0 win at Anfield to keep the Reds’ title challenge alive.

And Robertson has revealed how Salah dealt with the abuse and praised the way he responded.

“That’s the way to shut them up,” said Robertson. “It’s not nice but he dealt with it. It didn’t affect him at all – it didn’t look like it, did it?

“Sadly people are getting used to things like this now because it is happening far too often.

“Raheem Sterling said the other day that the only way to shut people like this up is to score goals and to beat them.

“It was a fantastic goal. He cut inside and as soon as he hit it, everyone knew it was in.”

After eight games without a goal, Salah has two in his last three, both crucial in the title race.

But focus for Jurgen Klopp’s side now turns to Porto, with a 2-0 lead to defend in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
