Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have "sorted out" Liverpool dispute

Ian Wright has said that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have “sorted out” the goalscoring dispute that affected the team in the past.

The ex-Arsenal striker believes any potential past issues between the two have been resolved as Liverpool continue unbeaten this season.

Previously there had been suggestions of tension between the two attackers and that they were refusing to pass to one another at times in an effort to out score each other.

But Wright says that is all behind them now, as he told Premier League productions: “When I watch them now, you can always tell with the strikers if they celebrate with each other.

“If they celebrate with each other, then you know that it is fine.

“And they do, they do celebrate with each other. I think there was a time when Mane came off [ Burnley in 2019]. They have obviously sorted that out now.

“Now you see them looking for each other. You do see them looking for each other sometimes.

“Mo says he is a winger but then he does show traits of being a striker.

“There are times where I see that he could have passed, but I say to myself ‘I wouldn’t have passed that’.

“He’s somebody that, when you get in the box, I wouldn’t complain about or call selfish because Mo Salah scores and he assists. When he doesn’t pass to you, you know he will at some stage.”

The Egyptian is in the form of his life right now with nine goals and three assists in nine games so far this season.

Alongside Roberto Firmino' Salah and Mane have spearheaded the most successful Liverpool team in decades.

But all was not always harmonious between Salah and Mane.

In Liverpool’s 3-0 win against Burnley, Salah was accused of being “selfish” by former Liverpool man Michael Owen after Mane’s angry reaction to being substituted.

The Senegalese forward gestured angrily at Salah during the match, seemingly frustrated at his teammate's refusal to pass when Mane was in a better position to score.

At the time, Jurgen Klopp tried to play down reports of animosity between the two but for a while they seemed to be at odds with one another.

Ex-Liverpool man Jamie Carragher admitted at the time that he thought it was down to an ongoing unrest between the pair.

That all seems to be long forgotten now, though, with both players starting this season exceptionally for Liverpool, who are only one point behind league leaders Chelsea.

Klopp’s side have impressed with fans back in Anfield, and are one of three sides, alongside Manchester City and Chelsea, who are positioning themselves as early title challengers.

However, with the African Cup of Nations in January, Liverpool look set to lose both Salah and Mane for potentially up to a month, which could wreak havoc on their season.
