Mohamed Salah agent speaks out over Egypt Olympic debate as Liverpool star wanted

The agent of Mohamed Salah has confirmed that no decision has been made on the Liverpool star's summer plans.

Salah is wanted to spearhead Egypt's Olympic Games campaign in Japan, which would impact his involvement for the Reds in pre-season.

The Games are being held in Tokyo later this year, with the men's competition starting on July 23 and the gold-medal match to be played just over two weeks later on August 8.

Jurgen Klopp has previously indicated he would discuss the issue with his leading goalscorer before the summer, but Egypt manager Shawky Gharib has said he wants his talisman as part of the squad in Japan.

"Out of the three senior players we’ll call up, Salah is the only one we’re settled on so far because he’s simply one of the top three players in the world," said Gharib.

"I haven’t talked to Salah at all about him joining the U-23 squad for the Olympics, but in all honesty, his participation in the Olympics will need a little effort from him as well."

Should Salah take part for Egypt and the African side make it to the final, the Liverpool star would almost certainly be absent for the start of the new Premier League season in August.

However, Salah's representative Ramy Abbas, stated on Twitter that a decision on his player's plans this summer has yet to be finalised.

"No decision has been made yet." was the Colombian agent's response when alerted to the comments by the Egypt coach.

Speaking last month about Salah's possible call-up for the Pharaohs, Klopp admitted he was not overly enamoured by the idea, but accepted he could be without the 'Egyptian King' for the summer schedule.

Klopp said: "The Olympics is a wonderful thing but it would not be too cool. No decision has been made yet. What I have to say I will say it to Mo, so that is all. Neither side has made a decision."
