Mohamed Elyounoussi hoping to cause upset against Man City once again for Southampton

Southampton midfielder Mohamed Elyounoussi wants to re-live an upset win at the Etihad Stadium when his side travel to Man City this weekend.

City have won their last four games in a row in all competitions, scoring 17 goals in the process and have only conceded once in the Premier League this season.

They will take on a Southampton side yet to win in the league this season on Saturday afternoon but the Saints have a player who has experience of scoring in a win at the Etihad for a visiting side.

Elyounoussi was part of the FC Basel squad that came to Manchester in the Champions League round of 16 second leg in 2018, scoring in a 2-1 win for the Swiss outfit. He then moved to Southampton and has been on the receiving end of 3-1 and 6-1 defeats at the Etihad stadium, but is hopeful of better memories after this weekend.

"I have had good experience there before in the Champions League with Basel. I didn't touch the ball a lot, but the few times when I did, it was good," he said, speaking to Hampshire Live.

"It will be about being defensively strong and disciplined, because of course they are one of the best teams in the world and they are used to playing against teams who make it difficult for them, so they are used to breaking teams down.

"But we need to be strong, have a good game plan and hopefully we can have a good result there."

Southampton secured a victory over City in June of 2020 thanks to a solitary Che Adams goal, but they'll need another brilliant defensive performance to stop the free-scoring champions from running over them once again.
