The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (MOFA) denounced Saturday the Israeli authorities' ban on citizens from entering the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque for the fourth week in a row.
MOFA deemed this as part of the Israeli attempts to besiege the Old City and empty it from Palestinians, which is a flagrant violation of international law, legitimacy and resolutions.
Preventing Palestinians from reaching the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque represents the expanding invasive plots of the occupation, the ministry’s statement read.
It also held the international community responsible for these violations which resulted from it standing idle.
In another context, two rallies were staged on Saturday in Arraba and Kafr Kanna in demand of the immediate release of the captive Maher al-Akhras Al-Akhras who has been on a hunger strike for 83 days as an objection to his detention.
According to WAFA, another protest is expected to take place in Al-Aseer Square in Haifa over the same issue.
Akhras, 49, from Sila, has been on a hunger strike for almost 3 months. His deteriorating health condition raised concerns over his life.
The Palestinian prisoner suffers from severe fatigue and intense pains in his muscles, and stomach. He has a nonstop headache, is unable to walk, and has undergone an acute weight loss. His hearing and taste senses were also affected.
Meanwhile, the Israeli navy attacked Saturday Palestinian fishermen while sailing off northern Gaza shore forcing the fishermen to return to the port, reported a WAFA correspondent. He said that the Israeli navy also opened fire at the fishing boats.
