Call of Duty fans won’t have to wait until launch day to jump into Modern Warfare 4’s story, as the campaign early access will begin on Friday, Oct. 16. This applies to anyone who has digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased MW4.
The campaign early access window will be available across all major platforms, including Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Battle.net and Steam.
CoD regulars can use this early access window, which has often been treated as a warm-up lap, to get familiar with MW4’s weapons, characters, and setting before diving into multiplayer, ranked, and whatever Warzone experience arrives alongside or after launch.
Nintendo Switch 2 version is also confirmed, but there’s a catch
While early access will apply to Switch 2 owners who pre-order digitally, Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will only be available later this year.
That means players on Sony, Microsoft, and PC ecosystems will be able to secure their early campaign access sooner, while Nintendo fans will have to wait a bit longer before they can lock in their copies.

Activision has confirmed that players who don’t pre-order should still get access to the open portion of the beta later on. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will be available later.
