Moderate Liberal backbencher Katie Allen is pushing to get federal integrity commission laws up before the election.
The Morrison government has blamed its failure to introduce its much-criticised proposal to parliament this year on Labor's opposition to the model.
But Dr Allen, who represents the Melbourne seat of Higgins, hasn't given up on getting it done ahead of the election due by May.
"We've got a huge legislative agenda of incredibly important issues on our plate and this is one of them," she told ABC radio on Friday.
"'I'm pushing for this to be done in this term.
"We haven't given up on it."
Dr Allen has spoken with independent MP Helen Haines about her proposed integrity bill.
In the past sitting fortnight, NSW Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells and MPs John Alexander and Bridget Archer spoke in parliament about the need for a better model than that proposed by the government.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison tabled an exposure draft of the government's model labelled by a former judge as worse than nothing.
But the legislation has not gone to the coalition's partyroom or been formally introduced.
Mr Morrison criticised NSW's Independent Commission Against Corruption, seen as the strongest anti-corruption body in the country, as a "kangaroo court" after it claimed the scalp of former premier Gladys Berejiklian.
