Model threatens to blow up plane and is tied to seat in obscene rant over wine

A former Instagram glamour model threatened to blow up a plane and had to be handcuffed during an obscene air rage outburst over a glass of wine.

After being told she'd have to pay for wine, Hannah Lee Pierson repeatedly screamed "get me a f***ing wine or I'll blow up the plane" on the flight from Melbourne, Australia, to Auckland, New Zealand.

The 31-year-old got up and grabbed the arm of a flight attendant, who feared they were about to be headbutted during the mid-flight drama, a court heard.

Flight attendants handcuffed Pierson and used spare seat belts to strap her to her chair, but she continued to rant in front of other passengers, including young children, until she fell asleep while restrained.

She pleaded guilty on Wednesday to disorderly behaviour and disruptive conduct towards a crew member, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Pierson was one of 72 passengers on the Air New Zealand flight on November 7 last year.

She asked for a glass of wine and was told that alcohol wasn't included in her ticket and she would have to pay for it, Christchurch District Court was told.

She then yelled: "I don't give a f***, get me a f***ing wine."

Pierson stood up and shouted: "I'll f***ing get it myself, give me the f***ing wine".

She insulted the flight attendant, calling her a "b****", and was diverted into an empty row by crew members as she got out of her seat.

She grabbed a flight attendant's arm and began moving her head, making the crew member fear she would try to headbutt them.

The crew were worried because Pierson continued to try to get out of her seat near an emergency exit, and she yelled "get me a f***ing wine or I'll blow up the plane" several times.

Flight attendants decided to handcuff her and strap her into her seat using spare seat belts.

She fell asleep about 90 minutes before the plane landed, and she continued to rant when she woke up, it was reported.

Pierson intends to seek a discharge without conviction so that she can travel in the future, her lawyer told the court.

But Judge Alastair Garland said airlines would likely be "quite happy" if she didn't travel again.

She accepted that she has had a problem with alcohol in the past.

Pierson, who was remanded on bail, will be sentenced in June.
