Model Nadia Forde feared her mum would die while filming I'm a Celebrity

Nadia Forde revealed she feared her terminally ill mother would die while she was doing I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

The model-turned-actress, 30, was in the jungle at the same time as Craig Charles, whose brother passed away during filming in 2014.

The Dubliner, who was struggling with personal issues including her late mum Berenice’s cancer battle at the time, said Charles’ news “scared her” and left her “on edge all the time”.

She told the Sunday Independent’s Living: “I just kept going, ‘If I don’t feel it, it will be fine’. Don’t think about it, don’t feel it, that kind of thing. She was terminal.

“When I look back I think that’s where I was mentally, for a lot of the days in there.

“I was in there with Craig and his brother passed away when we were in there and that scared me. I remember thinking, ‘OK, I’m going to get that call now’.

“I remember being on edge all the time. And thinking, ‘I’ll just keep going. Keep going, keep going, you’re here now, keep going’.” For years, Nadia was estranged from Berenice, who died from cancer in 2015.

But opening up about her attempts of reconciliation when her mum was diagnosed with cancer, she admitted it was difficult.

Nadia said: “It was very hard to reconnect. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as easy as a movie moment. And I really tried. I know how it went and I know I did my best. And I kept going. I know in my heart I did everything I could. But it wasn’t a laid-out road to doing it.

“There was a lot of back and forth for a lot of years.”

The Dubliner, who is mum to one-year-old Wyatt, also recalled how she was shocked when she was bullied about her weight during her time on I’m A Celeb.

Nadia said: “When I came out of the jungle and I had all of that stuff about my weight, it shook me to the core.

“That was a hard two years, you couldn’t pay me to go back there. Not to the jungle, I had a great time in the jungle, but my state of mind.”
