Model fugitive nicknamed 'Mr Potato Chest' caught in Bali over porn and drugs after fleeing Wales

A drug dealer nicknamed 'Mr Potato Chest' who fled to Bali after being being convicted in North Wales has been arrested.

Terence David Murrell, who made more than £200,000 from selling drugs before fleeing to Indonesia to avoid jail, has been arrested in connection with a porn and drugs investigation in the Asian country, according to reports.

Heavily-tattooed Murrell hit the headlines last year when a mangled Google translation of a police wanted appeal described him as having 'potatoes on his chest' .

He was due to be sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court last year after admitting possessing illegal drugs with intent to supply, and conspiracy to supply.

But when it came to his sentencing, he was nowhere to be found.

It later emerged that he had fled to Bali.

According to reports from the island, Murrell was paraded at a news conference after being arrested on Sunday.

North Wales Police have today confirmed that they were following developments.

Detective Superintendent Steven Williams said: ”We are aware of the arrest of Terence David Murrell in Bali.

“He remains outstanding for the offences he was convicted of last October, and we will await the outcome of the proceedings in Bali.

“Ultimately, he will have to face justice in this country for these offences.”

Murrell, who is from London, was among a gang of criminals arrested and charged over importing £2m of steroids from China and Hong Kong .

A court previously heard that following seizures by customs officers of parcels from China and Hong Kong bound for addresses in Deeside, Flint and Ruthin, North Wales Police launched Operation Fasti which uncovered drug imports which could have netted criminals a £1.2m profit.

Murrell was involved in the supply of steroids, an illegal drug of Class C, as early as 2013 and within a few months was heavily involved in the importation of the drug and its resale.

The sophisticated plot base in North Wales involved 14 conspirators - some from the same family.

The others involved were jailed at Mold Crown Court for sentences totalling 45 years and five months.
