Model and pub landlord Jodie Kidd backs pub closures to continue amid lockdown

Model turned pub landlord Jodie Kidd is backing for public houses to remain closed.

Some lockdown measures are being relaxed amid the coronavirus pandemic and many are itching to get out to their local bars and pubs and many hospitality brand owners are wanting the same.

But former model Jodie, 41, who is the owner of The Half Moon in Kirkford, West Sussex, is 100 percent behind hospitality venues staying shut, she told during an appearance on Friday's Good Morning Britiain.

As she spoke to hosts Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins, the business woman shared that her pub is small and cosy and that social distancing would not be viable.

She also added that people need to be wary of a second peak of the deadly bug.

Jodie shared via video chat: “Its really important not to rush this.

"If we get a second spike it will really cripple the hospitality world."

After her comments Ben - who dished that he has visited the catwalk queen's establishment and that he is a big fan of the place - quizzed Jodie on her change of career from clothes horse to landlord.

The ITV favourite asked: "How are you enjoying being a publican?"

Sharing on her journey to buying the Grade II listed property she said: "Its a really tough world."

Jodie explained that her local pub closed down and that she did not want that to happen.

She added: "I heard developers were going to buy it to make houses.

"So I got together with a group of pals and bought it."

Jodie confessed that afterwards she "thought what have I done?"

She continued: "I had no idea about hospitality and running teams and chefs.

"It is a beautiful property and super proud of it and we can’t wait for it to be open but I think its so important that we don’t rush this."
