I'll have to admit, my Hunger Games experience was a bit of a rollercoaster. There were times where everything made sense; there were times when I was blank, and completely clueless. And there were times when I understood exactly why the Hunger Games was a bestseller. The third book is the grand finale. Where life-changing decisions are made, where promises are made and broken, where there are moments of joy, and heart- break, but let's just say, before you buy your copy of Mockingjay, buy a few packets of Kleenex first.
Since she volunteered for the 54th Hunger Games, to save her sister's life, Katniss Everdeen's life has taken many twists and turns. At first, her only intention was to save Prim, and come out alive, but as time went on, Katniss found herself as the Mocking Jay, the symbol of the people's rebellion against the tight fisted rule of the Capitol and cruel President Snow. And suddenly, Katniss' life is a whirl, and even if she's broken inside, she has to hold her head high, stand up tall, and be the heroine everyone expects her to be - even if there are
consequences…
The one thing I don't understand: how can someone be in love with two people at the same time? But that's just the lamest of laments. Apart from that, I thought Mocking Jay was brilliant! A massive improvement from her second book in the Hunger Games series (Catching Fire), which in my opinion was flat and uninteresting. It was fast paced, thrilling and had the perfect balance of emotion and action. I would rate it a four on five. Not five, because the ending was quite disappointing; especially after so much build up and suspense. But, for Hunger Games fans, it's a must read, because as far as action books go, its pretty much flawless. Let the Games begin!
