Mock draft watch: Lions load up the passing game in Draft Wire’s latest

The latest two-round mock draft from our friends at Draft Wire is hot off the presses. In this edition, editor Luke Easterling loads up the Lions with passing game assets on both sides of the ball.

2022 NFL mock draft: Early 2-round projections

It starts at the top with one of the hottest prospect names of the summer, Liberty QB Malik Willis. The Lions land the athletically impressive Willis with the No. 2 overall pick, which is based on current Super Bowl odds. Willis is getting a ton of buzz this offseason but must prove himself against a lower-level slate of opponents to earn the lofty draft status.

With the pick acquired from the Rams in the Matthew Stafford trade, the projection is Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson. He comes off at No. 29.

In the second round, Clemson CB Derion Kendrick gets the nod for Detroit’s pick at 34 overall.

Mock drafts at this time of the year are more about finding names to watch and filling obvious roster holes. This one from Draft Wire hits those notes well for the Lions.
