Mock draft watch: Latest from Draft Wire brings defensive playmaker to Browns

The latest mock draft from our friends at Draft Wire keeps with the basic prevailing theme for the Browns in just about every contemporary mock draft. Cleveland needs speed and playmaking ability on defense, and this mock draft from Luke Easterling delivers.

With the No. 26 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, the Draft Wire projection sends Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to the Browns. He checks the box of a versatile playmaker in the middle of the field, capable of playing off-ball LB but also as the heavy nickel safety.

Another defense that could use a playmaker at safety, the Browns also need that kind of presence at linebacker, as well. Thankfully for them, this scenario provides them with multiple options that deliver the skill set they need at bargain value. Owusu-Koramoah is a three-down defender who can cover, stuff the run, and even get after the opposing quarterback.

Get used to seeing “JOK” projected to the Browns. He’s a good scheme and need fit and it’s the right range of the first round for the talented LB to come off the board.
