Mobile game maker wants to give you things for playing Tetris

PlayStudios is teaming up with Apple and several high-profile organizations to give you rewards for playing their mobile games, and it’s starting with Tetris on mobile. PlayStudios, makers of hit casual games for mobile devices such as Sudoku, Spider Solitaire, and Tetris’ mobile version, announced plans to integrate its playAwards loyalty platform with its portfolio of games, giving players a chance to earn real-world rewards for reaching in-game milestones.

The Tetris rewards platform goes live at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on March 28, 2023.

PlayStudios partners with dozens of entertainment and leisure brands for its playAwards program, including MGM, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and for the Tetris celebration, Apple. To celebrate the Tetris movie’s Apple TV+ release on March 31, 2023, you can redeem points earned through completing daily missions and challenges in Tetris for a one-month Apple TV+ subscription.

“This is an exciting evolution for Tetris and a groundbreaking advancement for casual mobile gaming as a whole,” Andrew Pascal, founder and CEO of PlayStudios, said. “Our players earn loyalty points for doing something they love and can use those points for a range of enjoyable travel and leisure activities. At the same time, our rewards partners are introduced to passionate consumers. Everyone wins.”

The company will gradually roll out playAwards integration for its other games as well, though PlayStudios didn’t give a timeline for when this might happen.

If you haven’t checked out Tetris on mobile yet but like the sound of free stuff, you can download the free-to-play game from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and even play in offline mode to save your data.
