A man who was hit by a car while travelling on a mobility scooter has been taken to hospital with head injuries.
At around 8.50am on Thursday, emergency services were called to Scotswood Road in the east of Newcastle , where a Mercedes had struck a mobility scooter.
The 58-year-old man on the scooter had suffered head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) A&E department.
Scotswood Road was not believed to be closed to traffic .
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9am today, police received a report of a collision on Scotswood Road, Newcastle.
"It was reported that a silver Mercedes had struck a mobility scooter causing minor injury to the 58-year-old driver."
