Residents in Bridgend County Borough aqre be able to get tested for coronavirus at a new location.
Locals will have access to a mobile testing centre at the site of the former Revlon/Cosi factory off Oakwood Drive in Maesteg (CF34 8TS) from Friday December 05.
It will be open for drive-through appointments only, seven days a week from 9am to 4pm. Residents who wish to get tested must book an appointment in advance via the Welsh Government website.
Council leader Huw David said: “The mobile testing facilities are offering residents throughout the county borough access to a fast, free test for anyone who is experiencing coronavirus symptoms."
Bridgend County Borough Council advises that people only get tested for the virus if they are displaying symptoms including a high temperature, a new persistent cough, or a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell.
The council is also instructing anyone who gets tested to immediately return home and self isolate following a test and avoid activities that risk contact with other members of the public.
Most people get their results via text the day after being tested but "some may take a little longer," according to the council.
Work is currently underway on developing a long-term testing facility for Bridgend County Borough.
The testing facility currently located at the Bowls Hall car park of Bridgend Life Centre will close on Thursday December 03 at 5pm.
