Mobile post office coming to Yate after area lost its service

A temporary mobile post office service is set to launch in Yate.

The post office at 261 North Road has been closed since June due to the resignation of the Postmaster.

But a mobile post office will start providing a service in Yate from Friday, September 13, while Post Office Ltd looks for a permanent solution.

The mobile service, operated by the Postmaster for Cam, will visit the car park at Codrington Arms, North Road, every Friday from 1.45pm to 2.45pm.

Alternative full-time branches in the area are at Yate Sodbury, Chipping Sodbury and Abbotswood.

The mobile service at Avening will operate from a new location - outside Avening Social Club in Woodstock Lane.

The Avening service's opening hours are now from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Post Office change manager Neil Jenkins said: “The establishment of a Mobile service presents the best temporary solution to restore post office services to the community in the North Road area of Yate whilst we continue to look for a permanent solution.”
