Governor of Madinah region Prince Faisal bin Salman inaugurated a new mobile laboratory launched by the Ministry of Health. The travelling lab can test up to 10,000 samples daily for COVID-19 and achieve results within 12 hours.
Previously, such labs held a testing capacity of 2,500 samples daily with the results being released within 24 to 36 hours.
Prince Faisal toured the lab’s several sections which include medical, technical and administrative cadres. It also includes 84 medical workers.
Dr. Mohamed Khalawi, Director General of Health Affairs of Madinah, explained that the mobile laboratory will contribute to producing an accurate and rapid analysis of the population in the region.
The lab contains the latest medical and technical equipment.
Khalawi revealed that lab operations are automated and linked electronically to hospitals and health centers in the region. It tests for COVID-19 with high speed and accuracy.
