Mobile Hospital in Madinah to Combat COVID-19

ACWA Power and Thabat Co. have inked a deal to build a 100-bed mobile hospital in Madinah to treat coronavirus patients. The new hospital will be fully equipped with the necessary medical tools and equipment to provide medical treatment and healthcare services.

ACWA Power stated that signing the agreement falls under guidelines of Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman to exploit the Saudi energy system potentials and capabilities in supporting precautionary and preventative measures taken by the Ministry of Health.

The agreement was signed in presence of the Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Health Minister Tawfiq al-Rabiah and ACWA Power chairman Mohammed Abunayyan. It was signed by Thamer al-Sharhan from ACWA Power, and Essam al-Muhaidib from Thabat.

Abunayyan expressed gratitude for the support shown by Medina Governor Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz in which he facilitated the procedures required to use the land for constructing a hospital. He stressed that this hospital falls under ACWA Power commitment to contribute to collective efforts of the Saudi Energy sector.

ACWA Power expects the hospital to be finalized in a record time, then the new facility’s contracts will be delivered to the Ministry of Health, he added. Construction works are scheduled for completion in 70 days from the agreement signing date.
