Mobile hairdresser offering home haircuts to Glasgow families not ready to face salons

A new mobile hairdresser has been launched in Glasgow's south side to help customers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Although hairdressers will reopen on July 15, there will be strict social distancing rules in place.

To help make hair appointments simpler and less stressful, the new business called Your Mobile Hairdressers and created by Nicola Coyle and Lauren Gilmour has been set up.

The business said it has been designed for families with multiple children who may struggle with social distancing and for those that are not confident going to public salons.

It describes itself as "the south side's first ever mobile duo. With all the new rules and regulations salons have to follow now, these two have paired up and are doing home visits. Ideal for families with multiple children. And perfect for those who don’t feel safe venturing out to salons."

Speaking to Glasgow Live, staff member Chris Thomson said: "Hair appointments could be really difficult for families - especially ones with young kids since it's a one in, one out system.

"The idea was that the hairdresser could just come to you instead and do an entire family at the one time.

"Other people are just not confident about being in a salon yet. They feel better if you go to their house - it can feel safer.

"The business is already doing well - it's fully booked until September, which is brilliant. There's been so much support for it. There's clearly a need for something like this, so it's great that it can deliver."
