Mobile hairdresser fined for carrying on working in breach of coronavirus rules

A mobile hairdresser has been caught flouting coronavirus regulations by continuing to trade during lockdown.

Neath Port Talbot Council served the woman with a fixed penalty notice after catching her carrying on with her business at a house in Neath on Tuesday, February 2.

All hairdressers and barbers in Wales are currently prohibited from operating under the Welsh Government's alert level four restrictions, which have been imposed in a bid to clamp down on the spread of the virus.

The hairdresser was served with the fixed penalty notice by one of the authority's enforcement officers and has 28 days to pay £1,000 to avoid prosecution.

Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Councillor Rob Jones, said: “I want to thank all those businesses and residents who are observing the lockdown rules at the moment.

“But for those who flout the regulations it can be an expensive experience as our teams and South Wales Police are vigilant.

“Those who flout the rules while we are going through the pandemic may not only be harming themselves and their families but the public at large and they are also harming the NHS.”
