Mobile coronavirus testing in Llangeinor, Bridgend, up and running again after two closures in a week

People living in Bridgend County Borough will once again have access to a mobile testing centre.

The Llangeinor testing centre shut for the second time last week with officials blaming "ongoing issues".

Health bosses confirmed the site re-opened on Saturday, November 1. It remain open between 9am and 5pm, until Wednesday, November 4.

The facility will then be moved to the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl, where it will be available from 9am to 5pm on November 5 until November 12.

The council said the facility in Llangeinor had to close at short notice on October 29 due to "ongoing issues" at the site. The centre was also previously closed on October 27 after bad weather caused problems with centre's internet connection, "which is needed to run the centre".

Earlier this month, a mobile testing centre was set-up at Evergreen Hall in Bridgend to replace the area's original facility at the Bowls Hall car park after it was also disrupted by bad weather.

Bridgend council leader Huw David said: “The mobile testing units are designed so that they can be moved around between different communities within the county borough as well as serving as a rapid response facility which can be deployed where it is needed most and as the situation changes".

The leader also said there were plans build a new static testing site for Bridgend County Borough and information on this would be released "soon".
